World Cup 2010 Latino T-shirts

The World Cup 2010 starts this June 11th.

The first games are:

South Africa vs Mexico – June 11 @ 4:00 am (HST)

Uruguay vs France – June 11 @ 8:30 am (HST)

As you can notice the first two matches involve 2 Latino football powerhouses, one from North America and the other one from South America.

Other Latino teams playing in this edition of the FIFA World Cup are Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Honduras.

Latino fans are well known around the world for their passion for the game and their creativity when rooting for their favorite teams.

Buying a jersey from your favorite Latino team is always a good idea, but an even better one is to think outside the box and get some unusual ones that will not only make a great conversation starter but will allow you to support non-mainstream Latino designers.

Here are my 3 personal picks.

World Cup 2010 Starts June 11th

Fútbol.

Futebol.

Football.

No matter what you call it: The biggest sports event in the world (besides the Olympics) is finally here.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international football tournament. It is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 FIFA national teams. As such, it matches the 2008 Summer Olympics as the sports event with the most competing nations. This will be the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation, after South Africa beat Morocco and Egypt in an all-African bidding process.

What are the implications of the 2010 FIFA World Cup for online marketers?

e-Mail Marketing the Right Way: Provide Value

email marketing[This is a guest contribution by Zachary Zawarski of Zadling]

I don’t subcribe to many e-mail newsletters, but if I do choose to opt into your e-mail list, you better make sure that you’re doing one thing: providing me with value.

We all know that e-mail marketing is a great way to produce sales for your website, but many business owners make the mistake of using mailing lists purely to push their products and services. That is the wrong way to conduct e-mail marketing.

How to Market to Millennials

[This is a guest contribution by Josip Petrusa of It’s Josip not Joseph.com]

The Millennials (or Generation-Y) demographic have proved to be an interesting group that we’ve tried to reach. I’m sure we’ve all read and even seen how different this generation is from previous ones. Whether that is in the workplace, on the street and even at home (for those of you who have siblings or even Gen-Y kids), you can tell there is something different about them.

The Millennials have also been the hot-topic in the marketing world. How can you market to a generation that is absolutely everywhere but with no traditional usage of media as opposed to previous generations. The way they read, watch TV and use the internet is different. They might be doing a combination of these, so marketing to them is just being overshadowed by their multi-tasking abilities, but they’re also as likely not to do any of them, so reaching them seems to be near impossible.

As a Millennial and member of Generation-Y myself, I’m going to provide you with 3 insights of how to market to Millennials.

Coachella 2010 Using Bing Twitter Maps

Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, Funnyordie and Coachella 2010 worked together the weekend of April 16-18, 2010 to engage with music fans from all over the world using geolocation technology.

Everybody knows Coachella is one of the biggest live music events in North America, but there are also millions of fans following the festival online through  initiatives such as Bing Twitter Maps.

What is Bing Twitter Maps?

Bing Maps has a a Silverlight interface, its own version of Google Map’s Street View (called Street Side), Photosynth and Twitter integration–it even has an app store. Bing Maps Twitter’s geolocation API to map out tweets that deal with topics relating to your neighborhood. Bing Twitter Maps places each tweet on the map, along with the Twitterer’s username and avatar. You can drill down based on topics or locations as well.

Here’s a sample screenshot:

How Facebook Does E-mail Newsletters III

facebook logoThis is the 3rd part of a series analyzing the successes and failures of  Facebook in the art of writing and implementing e-mail newsletters.

Is Facebook the Right Marketing Channel for You?

For a while organizations hesitated to jump on the Facebook bandwagon.

A couple brave organizations ventured into creating a Facebook Profile, Group or Page to manage its online presence on this social network.

However nowadays everybody and, even your mother, is present on Facebook.

On a daily basis, I receive questions at @idaconcpts, on whether or not a certain organization should have a presence on Facebook.  My answer is always the same, it depends.

It depends on:

1) Your objectives.

2) Your target audience.

On this post, we’ll address the second point: your target audience.
